HR Policies

Why should I have policies?

An important part of any business is having relevant Employment Policies. By providing clear guidance, your employees understand what is expected of them and also what will happen if they don’t adhere to them. We don’t just provide off the shelf solutions. We can help you establish your HR policies so that they both meet legal requirements and also fit the needs of your business.

Which policies do I need to have?

ACAS recommend that you have the following policies in place:

  • Adoption leave
  • Anti-harassment and bullying
  • Discipline
  • Employee Code of Conduct
  • Equality and Diversity
  • Grievance
  • Maternity leave
  • Parental leave
  • Paternity leave
  • Redundancy
  • Sickness Absence
  • Time off for Dependents
  • Whistleblowing

What about Company handbooks?

If you prefer to have all your policies and other useful information in one place, you could create a Company handbook. This can be one document held centrally that everyone can access. Alternatively, you can have a more concise Company handbook with links to more detailed policies. That way employees can go into more detail should they need it. This solution works well when you send the Company handbook out with new contracts.

How can Cornerstone Resources help me with my policies?

At Cornerstone Resources, we understand that our clients have competing demands on their budget. That’s why we provide you with 2 options:

  • Engage Cornerstone Resources to create bespoke policies or a company handbook for you based on your own ways of working. We have worked with clients to create policies that fit their culture from a traditional rules based style to a question and answer style document.
  • Buy a template pack of policies that you can then amend for a fixed fee of £99.
Both options will give you legally compliant documents that you can share with your employees.
For help developing policies or to order your template pack contact us today! You can email us by clicking the below button and we will come back to you. Alternatively, call Rob on 07494 161169 or Nicci on 07908 875146 for more details of how we can help you.

Is a work Christmas do a good idea?

So it’s nearly Christmas and thoughts turn towards the work Christmas party. You may be wanting to reward your staff with a free night out to thank them for all their hard work throughout the year. At the risk of sounding like an HR killjoy, it’s one to think very carefully about or it could

How and why should I performance manage my team? – 2 min read

Performance Management has always been a tricky thing for organisations to get right. Traditional appraisal processes have relied on formal meetings and the completion of long forms which struggle to genuinely capture the contribution an employee makes to their organisation. Done badly, performance management is less a tool to develop people and more a weapon

New Rights for Grieving Parents – 2 min read

The death of a child must be truly traumatic for any parent. The last thing they want to be concerned about is feeling obliged to rush back to work straight after losing a child.  Allowing a period of time off to grieve is often effective in helping overcome bereavement in the long term. Do you take all your annual leave allowance?

Do you take all of your annual leave allowance? As I sit here tapping away on the decking, anticipating my next holiday, I began pondering, why on earth don’t all employees take their full annual leave allowance? Depending on which survey you read, between half to two thirds of all UK employees fail to take

Why do I need policies? Without policies, it’s impossible for your employees to know where the parameters are in your organisation or what their entitlements are……whether it’s holiday, maternity leave or  absence. Some information can be detailed in the contract but more is needed, especially for more complicated processes like long term sickness absence or
