When we first set up Cornerstone Resources 3 years ago, we wanted to ensure that our values and ethics came through in everything we do. We’re thankful that we are still here and are thriving. But we are also mindful that many others are struggling like never before. That’s why we’ve made an extra effort this year by giving back at Christmas.
Over recent weeks, we’ve been privileged to be able to support some great charities both financially and with our time. The theme for this year is helping struggling families to have a better Christmas. We all know how tough 2020 has been, and if we can help bring a small amount of joy to people at Christmas, we think its worth it.
Giving back 1. Cash for kids - Mission Christmas.
Mission Christmas is Cash for Kids biggest annual event. Tens of thousands of kids in the Manchester area will go without any presents this Christmas. Thanks to some amazingly generous donations, many will now have something to unwrap on Christmas morning. It was a privilege to donate a day of our time to help pack presents. We’ll definitely be back again next year!
Giving back 2. The Big Give.
Thanks to the generosity of our friends and neighbours, we were able to provide over 25 bags of shopping for Audacious Foundation’s Big Give campaign. Seeking to feed 400 families at Christmas, we also were able to join them to pack some hampers.
Giving back 3. The Message Community Grocery
Not content with feeding 22,000 families and providing 41,000 packed lunches over the first lockdown, the Message Trust founded the Message Community Grocery. This innovative scheme allows families to do 2 full shops a week for £3 each. To be able to do this, they have to pay a £5 membership fee. Cornerstone Resources paid for 10 families membership fees.
As we continue to grow, we will look for more opportunities for giving back. In the meantime, we’d wholeheartedly recommend you support these great causes both now and throughout 2021.
