Cornerstone Resources are 3 today! When we sat down in January to plan the year ahead, I don’t think anyone would have predicted how the year would have progressed. Whilst this year has definitely been challenging, it’s also been a fruitful year in many ways.
Our main objective for 2020 was to diversify our customer base and this has been successfully achieved. We have worked with over 70 employers in 2020, more than double the number that we worked with in 2019. This has been achieved despite losing some key corporate clients at the beginning of lockdown. So how have we done this?
At the beginning of the lockdown, we took the decision to invest in networking. Joining the SUBS Stockport group in March gave us the opportunity to help businesses understand the raft of changes that have happened as a result of Covid enforced changes. Whilst this took a huge amount of time giving often free advice, it helped us to reach more customers than we had done in the previous year.
The power of referrals
Our first retained customer came on board in November 2018. Now that we have created a strong reputation for delivering quality HR advice, we have had several instances of current customers referring us on to their customers.
What's new for 2021?
As we mature into an established small business, we’re investing for growth. In the next few weeks, we will be launching our first professional website which will better showcase what we can offer.
We are also waiting for the DWP to approve our application to be a kickstart gateway. We want to support young people to start a career as well as helping our customers to recover and grow after the difficulties of 2020. We are hopeful that a decision will come early in 2021 so that we can start this process.
Finally we are looking to grow both in terms of the number of customers we work with but also the Cornerstone team itself. This will mean we will hire our first employees as well as increase our network of associates.
